
The SGFMA scholarship recognizes a graduating high school senior or a current college or university student who is pursuing higher education in a certified degree program at an accredited institution.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholarship, all candidates:
- As an immediate family member of an SGFMA Member, must be currently enrolled in (or as graduating high school senior, must have been accepted to) an institution of higher learning as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the fall or spring semester of the current school year. Immediate family refers to spouse, child, stepchild, grandchild, or step-grandchild
- As a SGFMA member, must be currently enrolled as a full or part-time undergraduate or graduate student in the fall or spring semester of the current school year.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must meet the basic criteria for admission and have a minimum 3.0 grade point ratio.
- May apply regardless of income.
- Must be a current active Association member, or the applicant’s immediate family member must be a current active member.
Application Process
- The Application Form MUST BE TYPED or clearly printed in black ink.
- Applications must be received by August 1, 2026 to be eligible.
- Applicant MUST submit a current transcript (showing GPA) or letter of acceptance from an institution of higher learning showing degree program name. SGFMA members who are part-time students must submit written verification from the Registrar’s Office or Student Records indicating current enrollment as a part-time student and GPA.
- The application must include at least three (3) Letters of Reference (other than relatives) to include:

- One personal recommendation
- One community service recommendation
- One leadership recommendation

- A short bio (500 words or less) as an introduction to the Association
- A current picture.
- Excluding the essay, bio, and picture, please restrict all information to the Application form
- Submit essay in accordance with the “Essay Instructions Page”
- All submittals will become the property of SGFMA. Application and documentation will not be returned.
Award/Presentation
Scholarship recipients will be notified by email. Scholarships will be formally awarded to the recipient(s) at the annual meeting of the SGFMA.
Attendance of the annual meeting is not required.
The Association will award up to five scholarships per year. Four scholarships will be $500 each.
One applicant will be chosen to receive the $1000 Greg Stowers Memorial Scholarship.

The Greg Stowers Memorial Scholarship is being presented in Memorial of Greg for his many years of dedication to the Southeast Governmental
Fleet Managers Association. He was instrumental in reaching out to Governmental Fleets and encouraging them to join our Association.
